NTC Employees Unions May Continue Their Activities: Islamabad High Court

Islamabad (September 11, 2017): Islamabad High Court orders to restore the Union activities in National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), which was banned in 2014. The order issued against the writ petition No. 3318 of 2015 of “NTC Employees Unity Union versus Federation of Pakistan and Others”.

As per decision by the honorable court, the respondent corporation is directed to frame a mechanism for functioning of the associations of employees / unions within one month. Honorable court further allowed employee unity union to continue its activities, prior to the formulation of framework by the corporation’s management, except for going on strike. Further, orders of the respondent / corporation with regard to curtailment of union activities along with the letter dated 12-09-2014, are set-aside.

The Court further clarified that in formulating the rules / mechanism for functioning of Associations of Employees, the Authority of the respondent Corporation for putting lawful restrictions within the framework of Article 17 (1) shall not be affected or fettered in any manner.
