DECT 6.0 Cordless Phones – Efforts to restrict it by PTA

Islamabad (July 29, 2015): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), after an awareness campaign to educate the public regarding illegal sale and use of  DECT 6.0 Cordless Phones, has stepped up its efforts to eradicate this illegal activity, according to press release by Director (PR) Khurram A. Mehran.

Report further added that Enforcement Division PTA and its Zones in Karachi, Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Rawalpindi have held several meetings with the officials of FIA, Police, Chambers of Commerce, Trade Unions, Importers, Vendors and Sellers of telecom equipment in their respective zones. They sought their help in apprehending the illegal importers, distributors, sellers and users of DECT 6.0 (cordless phones). It is pertinent to mention that these illegal DECT 6.0 cordless phones operate on the frequencies that cause service interference in the operations of authorized users of spectrum.

PTA also warns all the illegal importers, distributors, sellers and users of DECT 6.0 cordless phones, to refrain from such illegal activity otherwise legal action shall be taken against them through Law Enforcement Agencies including FIA.
